TORRES-MONTUFAR, Alejandro and OCHOTERENA, Helga. Two new species of the family Rubiaceae from Sierra de los Tuxtlas, Veracruz, Mexico. Rev. Mex. Biodiv. [online]. 2013, vol.84, n.4, pp.1082-1089. ISSN 2007-8706. https://doi.org/10.7550/rmb.32503.
Two new species of Rubiaceae are described from Sierra de los Tuxtlas in southern Veracruz, Mexico: Arachnotrhyx pumae (Guettardeae) and Hoffmannia altipetens (Hamelieae). Arachnotrhyx pumae is similar to A. buddleioides and A. villosa, but it differs by the triangular stipules, 2.0 to 3.0 mm long, lax inflorescence, floral bracts of 3.0 mm long and 1.0 mm width, 10-ribbed fruit and the folded seed. Hoffmannia altipetens is characterized by cystoliths on the leaf veins, inflorescences with 2 to 6 axis per node and white fruits.
