Abstract

PALACIOS-MORALES, Georgina; TORRES-HERNANDEZ, Eloísa; CAMPOS-MENDOZA, Antonio  and  DOMINGUEZ-DOMINGUEZ, Omar. Taxonomic and genetic corroboration of the presence of bridled trigged fish Sufflamen fraenatum (Balistidae) for the coast of Mexico. Rev. Mex. Biodiv. [online]. 2014, vol.85, n.2, pp.641-644. ISSN 2007-8706.  https://doi.org/10.7550/rmb.36883.

A fish from the Balistidae family was collected off Michoacán, Mexico. The fish was identified as Sufflamen fraenatum (Balistidae) based on its taxonomic and genetic traits. This finding confirms the presence of this species in the Mexican Pacific. The species has not been collected since 1897; for this reason, its record and distribution in the Mexican coast has been considered as in doubt by several authors.

Keywords : Michoacán; cytochrome oxidase subunit 1; taxonomic; Molecular Biology.
