Abstract
PIO-LEON, Juan Fernando; LEON-DE LA LUZ, José Luís and ORTEGA-RUBIO, Alfredo. A new record of Amoreuxia gonzalezii (Bixaceae) for the Baja California peninsula, Mexico. Rev. Mex. Biodiv. [online]. 2014, vol.85, n.4, pp.1269-1272. ISSN 2007-8706. https://doi.org/10.7550/rmb.44212.
Amoreuxia gonzalezii is recorded for the first time in the state of Baja California Sur and for the California Peninsula. It was found in the buffer zone of the Biosphere Reserve Sierra La Laguna. This species has been previously recorded for the states of Sinaloa and Sonora in Mexico, and for Arizona in USA. Two species of this gender, A. palmatifida and A. wrightii, are included in the Nom-059-Semarnat-2010 in the status of special protection and endangered respectively. Taking into account that A. gonzalezii has a smaller range of distribution than the 2 Amoreuxia species included in the Nom-059, it is evidence of the importance of this report.
