Mexico is one of the countries where species richness of reptiles is greater; however their basic ecology and current distribution areas are unknown for many of them. In this study we report the presence of Coleonyx elegans, which is a lizard species protected by the Mexican environmental regulation, in northern Veracruz, increasing by 100 km its known distribution.
