Abstract
VASQUEZ, Carlos; DAVILA, Marta; POMBOZA, Pedro Pablo and TELENCHANA, Norma. First report of Oligonychus coffeae (Acari: Tetranychidae) on Alnus acuminata in the Andean region. Rev. Mex. Biodiv. [online]. 2017, vol.88, n.1, pp.256-259. ISSN 2007-8706. https://doi.org/10.1016/j.rmb.2017.01.007.
Occurrence of Oligonychus coffeae in association to aliso (Alnus acuminate, Betulaceae) is recorded for the first time in the Ecuadorian Sierra, Province of Tungurahua, Ecuador. High populations of this spider mite were found on natural populations of A. acuminata at the Agricultural Sciences Faculty, Technical University of Ambato. It is suggested that O. coffeae could exert some impact on growth and wood production of this native plant species. Thus, more detailed studies should be addressed in order to determine the importance of the mite feeding on A. acuminata in the Andes.
