Abstract
WINFIELD, Ignacio et al. Biodiversity of tanaidaceans (Crustacea: Peracarida: Tanaidacea) from the Puerto Morelos Reef National Park, Quintana Roo, Mexico. Rev. Mex. Biodiv. [online]. 2017, vol.88, n.3, pp.572-578. ISSN 2007-8706. https://doi.org/10.1016/j.rmb.2017.07.006.
Checklist, new records, and new distributional range of the benthic tanaidacean species from the Puerto Morelos Reef National Park, Quintana Roo, Mexico were analyzed. A total of 1,388 organisms, belonging to 10 families, 13 genera, and 14 species were identified from 2 to 15 m depths. The species Chondrochelia dubia (Krøyer, 1842), Paradoxapseudes bermudeus (Bacescu, 1980), Pseudotanais gerlachi (Sieg, 1977), and Hoplopolemius propinquus (Richardson, 1902) were the most abundant. Previously, 2 species and 1 genus of tanaidaceans for the coral reef Puerto Morelos, and 9 species for the Caribbean Sea had been recorded. This paper contributes to update the checklist of tanaidaceans from the Puerto Morelos reef to 15 species and 19 species from the Mexican Caribbean. In addition, Apseudes orghidani Gutu & Iliffe, 1989, Mesotanais vadicola (Sieg y Heard, 1989), Nototanoides trifurcatus Sieg y Heard, 1985, Pagurotanais largoensis (McSweeny, 1982), Pseudotanais gerlachi, Zeuxo coralensis (Sieg, 1980) and Tanaissus psammophillus (Wallace, 1919) are new records for the Caribbean Sea, and Mesokalliapseudes bahamensis (Sieg, 1982) and Psammokalliapseudes granulosus Brum, 1973, extend their geographic range.
