Abstract

CRUZ-LOPEZ, Jesús A.. Potosa elsanto sp. nov., the third species of the genus Potosa (Opiliones: Stygnopsidae: Karosinae). Rev. Mex. Biodiv. [online]. 2018, vol.89, n.1, pp.79-86. ISSN 2007-8706.  https://doi.org/10.22201/ib.20078706e.2018.1.2074.

The third species of the genus Potosa: Potosa elsanto sp. nov. is described based on males. This new species is from Zacualtipán, Hidalgo, Mexico, and it can be distinguished of P. dybasi and P. reddelli mainly by swollen tarsomeres of leg II. The characteristic ventral glandular opening on metatarsus I of males was examined and compared with other glandular openings reported in Laniatores. A taxonomic key for identification of the genus is provided.

Keywords : New species; Glandular openings; SEM photos; Hidalgo; Mexico.
