Abstract
CUATE-MOZO, Víctor Alfonso et al. Description of the larvae of five species of Listrochelus (Coleoptera: Melolonthidae) from northwestern Mexico. Rev. Mex. Biodiv. [online]. 2022, vol.93, e934096. Epub Dec 12, 2022. ISSN 2007-8706. https://doi.org/10.22201/ib.20078706e.2022.93.4096.
The third instar larvae of Listrochelus cristagalli (Arrow), L. granti Saylor, L. juvenilis (Fall), L. nogueirana (Morón) and L. yaqui Saylor are described based on specimens from the municipality El Fuerte, Sinaloa, Mexico. Larvae were collected in rainfed plots, cultivated with beans (Phaseolus vulgaris L.), watermelon (Citrullus vulgaris Schrad), corn (Zea mayz L.), buffel grass (Pennisetum sp.) and in natural vegetation with remnants of tropical deciduous forest soils. Illustrations of characteristic structures and comments on taxonomic differences are included. A key to identify the described larvae of the genus Listrochelus is presented.
