Abstract
VELAZQUEZ FLORES, Rafael. La política exterior de Estados Unidos hacia México bajo la administración de Barack Obama: cambios y continuidades. Norteamérica [online]. 2011, vol.6, n.2, pp.85-113. ISSN 2448-7228.
This article's general aim is to analyze U.S. foreign policy toward Mexico since Barack Obama entered the White House. The main argument is that, despite expectations of positive changes, the Obama administration's foreign policy regarding Mexico leans more toward signs of continuity than in changes. The first part of the article establishes the main characteristics of current bilateral relations; the second briefly describes relations since 2000; the third analyzes Obama's campaign proposals regarding Mexico; and the last explores the most important issues on the bilateral agenda since his election, such as the political context, trade, migration, and security.
Keywords : foreign policy of the United States; Barack Obama; Mexico-United States relations; bilateral agenda.
