Abstract

VALDEZ-GARDEA, Gloria Ciria  and  BALSLEV CLAUSEN, Helene. Migración y transnacionalismo: Experiencias de inmigrantes en el transporte público de San Diego, California, 2004. Región y sociedad [online]. 2007, vol.19, n.spe, pp.199-218. ISSN 2448-4849.

Based on the idea that everyday practices among Mexican immigrants allow the construction and redefinition of a transnational space, as a starting point, this article will explore the notion of migration from the perspective of transnationalism, within the framework of current tendencies in Mexican migration. Examining immigrant interactions in the public transportation system in San Diego, California, we will try to understand how they create and recreate their actions. This approach from a social space allows the analysis of the specific interactions between societies with different histories and development processes

Keywords : migration; transnationalism; public transportation; San Diego; social space; everyday practices.
