Abstract

GONZALEZ ESTEVEZ, Marnie  and  SANCHEZ MUNGUIA, Vicente. Riesgo de contaminación del acuífero arroyo Alamar en Tijuana, Baja California. Región y sociedad [online]. 2013, vol.25, n.56, pp.103-126. ISSN 2448-4849.

The Alamar creek aquifer is one of the few sources of water available to the city of Tijuana, Baja California. Various activities are carried out in the Alamar area which, coupled with the lack of control and surveillance measures, affect levels of pollution. The present study assessed the contamination risk to which this aquifer is exposed, based on interaction between its inherent vulnerability and the pollutant load to which it is subjected. According to the source pollutants examined in the study, the aquifer is being subjected to pollution loads in about half of its area.

Keywords : aquifer; water; risk; vulnerability; pollutants.
