Abstract
PINA OSORIO, Juan Manuel and AGUAYO ROUSELL, Hilda Berenice. Homofobia en estudiantes universitarios de México. Región y sociedad [online]. 2015, vol.27, n.64, pp.05-35. ISSN 2448-4849.
Numerous studies indicate that, among students in higher education, homophobia can be expressed in both a violent and a subtle form. This study centered on understanding homophobia and inclusion among students from three public universities located in the center, gulf and southeast regions of Mexico. This article presents the results of a word association instrument, whose inductive term was homosexual, applied to 168 youth. Field information was systematized and organized into three categories: inclusive, homophobic and neutral expressions. Results showed a prevalence of utterances that were homophobic (49.4%), followed by inclusive (27.9%) and neutral (22.7%). A word web with the 10 words of greater semantic weight is also presented, where 63.4% of words are inclusive, 20.6% homophobic and 13% neutral. According to the results, it can be stated that homophobia is still present in this sample of students.
