GALICIA RAMOS, Blanca Mariana  and  VEGA NAVARRO, Ángel de la. Local Companies’ Participation in the Wind Energy Industry in Oaxaca, Mexico. Región y sociedad [online]. 2023, vol.35, e1716.  Epub Sep 04, 2023. ISSN 2448-4849.  https://doi.org/10.22198/rys2023/35/1716.

Objective: to analyze the local companies’ participation in the wind energy development in Oaxaca. Methodology: value chain in which energy sector local companies’ personnel was interviewed to analyze their participation. Results: six key elements are qualitatively and analytically identified: 1) characterization of the value chain and its links, 2) the ways in which local Oaxacan companies participate in the industry, 3) the type of governance, 4) the scaling-up processes, 5) the state’s role, and 6) the opportunity areas. Value: the proposed analysis contributes with knowledge to the existing literature since it considers the local business intervention in the regional wind development. Conclusions: the Oaxacan companies’ participation is restricted to the less added value links.
