PAVON-RAMIREZ, David and OSORIO GARCIA, Maribel. Approach to Socio-territorial Vulnerability in Othón P. Blanco, Quintana Roo in COVID-19 Times. Case Study Linked to Tourism. Región y sociedad [online]. 2023, vol.35, e1647. Epub Sep 04, 2023. ISSN 2448-4849. https://doi.org/10.22198/rys2023/35/1647.
Objective: to analyze socio-territorial vulnerability in Othón P. Blanco, Quintana Roo, in general and in Mahahual in particular to show the characteristics that lead to a greater or lesser post-pandemic resilience capacity regarding a tourism context. Methodology: the optimal stratification method with data was applied to the urban locality of the municipality of Othón P. Blanco, and the basic geostatic area to Mahahual. Results: vulnerability is represented in categories ranging from very high to very low, and it is shown that at the urban locality scenarios are different from those in the basic geostatic area due to the territorial model conditions, social structure, and scale of analysis. Limitations: the study limits to sociodemographic conditions. Value: the design and calculation of the formula used in the research allows compensation when standardizing data to achieve a balanced result between the number of indicators established for each social dimension. Conclusions: there are inequalities inherent to the geographical location of each territory, consequently the COVID-19 effect is heterogeneous on the inhabitants of each space.
