Abstract

BASTOS, Santiago  and  LEON, Quimy de. Guatemala: Building its development in postwar neoliberalism. Rev. pueblos front. digit. [online]. 2015, vol.10, n.19, pp.52-79. ISSN 1870-4115.  https://doi.org/10.22201/cimsur.18704115e.2015.19.45.

After the end of a period of armed conflict, Guatemala opened up indiscriminately to extraction activities in many communities throughout the country. The communities organized to defend their territory and way of life. This is the context within which proposals are being made to build their own forms of development, including the proposal for community participation that has strengthened mobilization and assumes a new relationship with the State.

Keywords : Guatemala; indigenous peoples; development; community; extraction industry.
