This paper analyzes a shelter for migrants named La 72 Hogar-Refugio para personas migrantes (Number 72, A Shelter for Migrants), located in the municipality of Tenosique, Tabasco State, Mexico, on the border with Guatemala. It explains how civil society associations impact care for Central American migrants, women, men, children and members of the LGBTTTI community. This work takes place within the framework of a complex international context in which the United States of America has influenced Mexico to create a barrier along its southern border with the presence of the Mexican National Guard and policies implemented by the Mexican National Institute of Migration banning access by religious associations and civil society organizations to migration stations and temporary shelters.
