This document records changes and continuities in the sociodemographic profiles of its protagonists, as well as the importance of the remittances and the links with a decrease in the levels of extreme poverty in many of the municipalities of Chiapas, Mexico. Based on sociodemographic and economic indicators, it is concluded that after more than 20 years of migration, some elements point to establishing that such displacement, after the boom experienced in its beginnings, is in consolidation with a view to deepening its participation in the northern labor market.
