Abstract

MENDOZA SOLIS, Yeri Paulina. Developmental Schemes in the Lacandon Rainforest: Interpreting the Configuration of Development Policies and Global Governance. Rev. pueblos front. digit. [online]. 2024, vol.19, e692.  Epub Mar 08, 2024. ISSN 1870-4115.  https://doi.org/10.22201/cimsur.18704115e.2024.v19.692.

This paper analyzes the socio-political transformation processes in the Lacandon rainforest based on three main topics that have turned this territory into a region of development: colonial extractivism, rural development, and sustainable development together with environmental conservation. The basic premise states that in the current developmental patterns, different governance policies, actors and projects merge within the framework of productive development policies based on commercial agriculture and based sustainability-based territorial reconfiguration initiatives. From this perspective, the paper analyzes the tensions and contradictions of development policies that have configured the Lacandon rainforest into a regional-world in which heterogeneous development principles, ideas, and initiatives converge and coexist in the territory and the region.

Keywords : productive development; sustainable development; global governance; development policy; development programs.
