Abstract

GUTIERREZ ALFONZO, Carlos. Torres on the Narrative of the Jungle in Latin America. Rev. pueblos front. digit. [online]. 2024, vol.19, e704.  Epub Mar 01, 2024. ISSN 1870-4115.  https://doi.org/10.22201/cimsur.18704115e.2024.v19.704.

Based on his fascination with literature, in his book Del infierno verde al paraíso perdido. La narrativa de la selva en América Latina [which could translate as rom Green Hell to Paradise Lost: The Narrative of the Jungle in Latin America], Vicente Francisco Torres proposes a journey into texts appreciative of the theme of Latin American jungles. This research into the jungles expressed in words recorded by Vicente Francisco Torres sees jungles as both idealized and threatening spaces that have eventually been turned through multiple ambitions into spaces that are close to deterioration, including the Lacandon and the Petén jungles. The author offers a passionately broad look at a theme, the narrative of the jungle, the analysis of which is inexhaustible.

Keywords : literature; narrative; jungle.
