HASEMANN-LARA, Ana Eugenia. Democracy and Political Culture in Honduras, Contextualized in the Works Published by the University Institute for Democracy, Peace and Security, Pertaining to National Autonomous University of Hondura. Rev. pueblos front. digit. [online]. 2024, vol.19, e715.  Epub May 09, 2024. ISSN 1870-4115.  https://doi.org/10.22201/cimsur.18704115e.2024.v19.715.

This review presents a brief analysis about democracy and violence in Honduras based on the more recent academic studies published by the University Institute for Democracy, Peace and Security (IUDPAS by its acronym in Spanish) pertaining to the National Autonomous University of Honduras. This discussion is guided by a core publication by Julieta Castellanos entitled Honduras: Persistencia y cambios en la cultura política, 1980-2020 [which could be translated as Honduras: Persistence and Changes in Political Culture, 1980-2020]. This book has triggered reflections about the current and upcoming socio-political landscape regarding the rule of law, governance, and citizen security in Honduras and the Central American region, along with potential lines for future research in IUDPAS.

Keywords : violence; democratic transition; political culture; citizen security and public order; electoral processes.
