Abstract

SFERRAZZA TAIBI, Pietro. Comments on the Guiding Principles for the Search for Disappeared Persons of the United Nations Committee on Enforced Disappearances. Anu. Mex. Der. Inter [online]. 2021, vol.21, pp.773-796.  Epub Jan 21, 2022. ISSN 1870-4654.  https://doi.org/10.22201/iij.24487872e.2021.21.15609.

The search for missing persons is an ethical and legal problem that has captured the attention of important international bodies. In this context, the United Nations Committee against Enforced Disappearances approved in 2019 the Guiding Principles for the Search for Missing Persons. Although this is a set of good practices systematized in a soft law instrument, they represent a road map for every State that implements a public search policy for missing persons. Therefore, this paper will critically analyze the main contributions of this Principles.

Keywords : enforced disappearance; search for disappeared persons; Committee on Enforced Disappearances.
