Abstract

RAMIREZ SANCHEZ, Sandra Lucía. Conocimiento y democracia: expertos y experticia en los procesos de socialización del conocimiento. Península [online]. 2006, vol.1, n.1, pp.95-108. ISSN 1870-5766.

More than three decades ago, P. Feyerabend stated the problem of the role of experts in a free society, the question which has been articulated since then is: How can we preserve scientific and technological decision-making process as legitimate by warranting, at the same time, the good development in science and technology? After thirty years the challenge still stands, and H. Collins and R. Evans face it by making a revision of the 'expertise' concept. This work analyzes analyze a debate opened by those authors and introduce some ideas towards the importance of redefining expertise in the context of a wider project in communicating knowledge and public participation in scientific and technological affairs, by supposing that this is valuable in an open and democratic society.

Keywords : expert; expertise; communication of knowledge; public participation.
