In the context of the importance of Mexico´s relationship with the Antilles at the beginning of the nineteenth century, the purpose of the present study is to analyze discourse arguments, in Mexico City on the question of Cuban independence by José Ma. Heredia and Antonio José Valdés. The principal sources of the materials considered are the periodicals of the Mexican capital, where both men were collaborators and editors of important newspapers and magazines between 1825 and 1826.
