Abstract

FRANCO CABRERA, Montserrat; LAMBERTINEZ JUAREZ, Nallieli Adaluz  and  OLAVARRIA GUADARRAMA, Mónica Yazmín. Anesthetic considerations in assisted reproductive techniques. Acta méd. Grupo Ángeles [online]. 2019, vol.17, n.1, pp.38-46.  Epub May 11, 2021. ISSN 1870-7203.

Introduction:

Infertility is a worldwide problem; that is why, in recent years, there has been a major development of different assisted reproductive techniques that have made more and more pregnancies possible. It is extremely important for the anesthesiologist to know the implications of these techniques, especially those directly involved with anesthesia.

Objective:

To review the available and current literature regarding this aspect, focusing on the anesthesiologic considerations. Materials: Search in PubMed, OVID, Cochrane, ClinicalKey, Google Academic.

Conclusion:

In reproductive assisted techniques, there is no gold standard for the management of patients; therefore, we have to make decisions depending on our specific patient. Additionally, we have to be prepared for complications related to these procedures.

Keywords : Assisted reproduction; infertility; obstetric anesthesia; in vitro fertilization; sedation; analgesia; anesthesia.
