Introduction:

Endometrial bone metaplasia is a type of benign metaplasia, in which bone tissue is identified in the endometrial cavity. It is a rare entity with an annual incidence of three cases per 10,000 women, it is usually a finding.

Clinical case:

A 35-year-old patient who attends routine assessment, identifying hyperechogenic linear ultrasound image in the endometrial cavity compatible with an intrauterine device; when attempting to extract it, bone tissue fragments are obtained, which are sent to pathology reporting endometrial bone metaplasia.

Conclusion:

Endometrial bone metaplasia is a rare entity that is usually underdiagnosed, so in most cases a therapeutic diagnostic approach is not performed. The etiology, diagnosis and treatment of this rare entity is discussed.
