Abstract

FLORES MATA, Asael Guadalupe  and  RIOS REINA, José Luis. Percutaneous nephrostomies: 10-year experience at Angeles Mocel Hospital. Acta méd. Grupo Ángeles [online]. 2022, vol.20, n.4, pp.312-316.  Epub May 26, 2023. ISSN 1870-7203.  https://doi.org/10.35366/107114.

Introduction:

Percutaneous nephrostomy placement is increasingly common, with multiple imaging techniques for placement. The Brödel area is the most used for its placement. There are multiple indications for performing a percutaneous nephrostomy that includes benign, malignant causes, or surgical complications.

Objective:

To publicize the main causes of percutaneous nephrostomies at Hospital Angeles Mocel.

Material and methods:

A descriptive, retrospective, and observational study were carried out in which we present the experience in percutaneous nephrostomies at Hospital Angeles Mocel for 10 years, from the period January 2010 to December 2020.

Results:

A predominance was observed in the male gender with 59.10% in the cases, as well as the most frequent age group was between the 5th and 6th decade of life. Retroperitoneal hematoma was the most frequent cause of benign obstructive uropathy in 42.86% and prostate Ca was the most frequent cause of malignant obstructive uropathy in 23.98%. The complications presented were 1.35%, being the renal hematoma the most frequent.

Conclusions:

The placement of percutaneous nephrostomy is essential to resolve acute or chronic conditions. Found few differences between the literature and the study.

Keywords : Percutaneous nephrostomy; benign obstructive uropathy; malignant obstructive uropathy.
