Abstract

OLGUIN-HERNANDEZ, Licet; POZO-MONTUY, Gilberto; GONZALEZ-GARCIA, Fernando  and  TELLEZ-TORRES, José Gabriel. Record of the Tricolored Munia (Lonchura malacca) in Huixtla, Chiapas, Mexico. Huitzil [online]. 2011, vol.12, n.1, pp.15-18. ISSN 1870-7459.

We provide the first record of the Tricolored Munia (Lonchura malacca) in Chiapas state. Including this record, there are now three states that have a confirmed presence of this exotic bird in Mexico. Previous records of L. malacca occurred in Yucatan in 1993 and in Quintana Roo in 2004. This record suggests a possible increase in the distribution range of L. malacca in Mexico.

Keywords : distribution range; invasive species; exotic species.
