Abstract

GONZALEZ-GARCIA, Fernando et al. Additional sites in the geographical distribution of the Crested Guan (Penelope purpurascens) in Puebla and Oaxaca, Mexico. Huitzil [online]. 2012, vol.13, n.1, pp.61-67. ISSN 1870-7459.

We report additional records for the Crested Guan (Penelope purpurascens) in several locations in the Sierra Norte and Sierra Negra, Puebla, and the Sierra de Juarez, Oaxaca. These records are based on images from camera traps, direct and indirect observations (captive individual, legs, feathers), call recordings, and oral information from experienced hunters. We present the first photographic records for the species that increase the knowledge on its geographical distribution in Puebla and Oaxaca.

Keywords : cracids; camera traps; Sierra Norte; Sierra Negra; Sierra de Juarez.
