Abstract
RIOS-MUNOZ, César A.. Predation of armored suckermouth catfish (Loricariidae: Pterygoplichthys) by the Neotropic cormorant (Phalacrocorax brasilianus) in Villhermosa, Tabasco, Mexico. Huitzil [online]. 2015, vol.16, n.2, pp.62-65. ISSN 1870-7459.
I present photographic record and feeding behavior of a Neotropic cormorant (Phalacrocorax brasilianus) when eating an armored suckermouth catfish (Pterygoplichthys sp.) in Villahermosa, Tabasco, Mexico. The observation represents the first record of predation for armored suckermouth catfish by a resident bird, suggesting an abundant presence of the fish in the region.
