Abstract

OROZCO DIAZ, Nadia Lizette. Ciencia política: entre la reflexión filosófica y la ciencia empírica. En-clav. pen [online]. 2012, vol.6, n.11, pp.57-79. ISSN 2594-1100.

Throughout this paper I analyze the tension between political science and politi-cal philosophy, in order to establish their differences and point out the material object of study of political science as an independent and different body of knowledge of politics. On the other hand, I expose the tight link between the consolidation of western nationstates and the establishment of science as a fundamental institution within their construction. Hence, these two lines of analysis show that political science as we conceive it appears as late as the 1920's with the foundation of the Chicago School by Charles Merriam in the United States.

Keywords : Political Science; Philosophy of Science; Chicago School; Science and Power; Science and State.
