Abstract

GAUNA RUIZ DE LEON, Carlos. Perception of the problems associated with tourism and interest in the participation of the population: case of Puerto Vallarta. El periplo sustentable [online]. 2017, n.33, pp.251-290. ISSN 1870-9036.

Getting to know the perception of local populations of the effects generated by the touristic activities, has been increasing as an object of study of science. This is because, most of the theoretic constructions have the inhabitant of host communities as an important actor and as a necessary element for the achievement of developing processes. This paper aims to know the perception of the population of a touristic place, such as Puerto Vallarta, from the dimensions of the “Agenda 21 para el Turismo y los Viajes”. For this reason, an open-population inquiry has been conducted in order to be able to analyze the responses and to have a contribution on the understanding of the concerns and motivations that the population has. Using complex statistical instruments, such as the system of structural equations, allows the analysis of causal relationships between variables from the construction of a system based on the theoretical model proposed, and allows a better understanding of the population for whom any development process must be built.
