Abstract

DIAZ, Guillermo. Stratification and social mobility in Guatemala. Nova scientia [online]. 2012, vol.4, n.7, pp.205-236. ISSN 2007-0705.

This paper is about the social class structure in Guatemala in the new century. The middle class is low as percentage of population, below 20%. Also, the paper is about the social mobility. The intergenerational rate of education and occupational mobility is low. The education mobility is more in men than women and more in non indigenous than indigenous. In occupational mobility the situation is reversed.
