Abstract

SEURET-JIMENEZ, D.; STAHL, P.  and  TERMINEL, O.. Mechanical fault identification using Wavelet Transform and Labview. Nova scientia [online]. 2015, vol.7, n.14, pp.162-177. ISSN 2007-0705.

It is intended to validate, two examples, the use of the wavelet transform to detect mechanical failures. The first, a gear with a broken tooth is subjected to a rotation testing machine, where the vibration signals are extracted by means of a network of accelerometers. The latter one is an aluminum bar with a fracture. The signals are processed and analyzed in the frequency domain and time by means of the Fast Fourier Transform (only in the first case) and wavelet transform respectively, which have been programmed into an application in LabVIEW. In analyzing the predicted results are clearly obtained according to a mechanical analysis of the components of the machine.

Keywords : Fundamental frequency; harmonics; Wavelet transform; Fast Fourier Transform; energy spectrum; fault detection, gear.
