Abstract

This paper aims to describe the main contributions by Joseph Dominic Matarazzo to the behavioral health, is aimed primarly at students of psychology, medicine and nursing to make known their studies, results and proposals for improving the overall health by reviewing the main conceptual historical research, hoping to promote the teaching and clinical practice, the importance, advantages and usefulness of the behavioral medicine in the health sciences, for this purpose, different concepts such as lifestyle, habits, behavioral inmmunogens, pathogens, behavioral medicine, behavioral health, health psychology, comprehensive medicine, and so on, are described. Similarly, the contributions mentioned Matarazzo made to promote the comprehensive training doctors, psychologist and psychiatrists in the various academic levels. Finally, an overview on the author's career is presented.
