Abstract

MAYANS CESPEDES, Pedro Ramón; LOPEZ CANSTENS, Gilberto de Jesús; ROMANCHIK KRIUCHKOVA, Eugenio  and  PEREZ SOBREVILLA, Luciano. Dimensional and inertial properties of the fruit-stem system of mango related with harvest by vibrationn. Rev. Mex. Cienc. Agríc [online]. 2015, vol.6, n.1, pp.163-173. ISSN 2007-0934.

For the design and operation of mango harvesting machines by vibration, is necessary to know the physical-mechanical properties of fruit-stem system, since they constitute the input data for the evaluation of the theoretical models used in the analysis of dynamic systems, thus its modeling in order to know the most appropriate modes and regimes of vibration for detachment of fruits. This study aims to determine the dimensional characteristics of fruit-stem system of mango (Mangifera indica L.) and the inertial properties of fruit. For this, a methodology was developed and selected the means and instruments of measurement with points established in Mexican standards. The measurements were performed in an experimental plot of Manila mango, located in Idolos, Veracruz; in June 2013, obtaining average values of fruit polar diameter, minimum and maximum equatorial, length and diameter of stem as well as mass, moments of inertia and bulk density of fruits, for three stages of maturation. Analysis of variance showed significant differences between means for 95% level of significance in the properties for ripe fruits, with physiological maturation and greens, which favors the application of vibration regimes that allow fruit to drop according to maturation level.

Keywords : Mangifera indica L.; natural frequency; resonance; selectivity.
