Abstract
ROMAN PONCE, Heriberto et al. History and perspectives of the GGAVATT model (Groups for Livestock Technological Validation and Transfer). Rev. mex. de cienc. pecuarias [online]. 2021, vol.12, suppl.3, pp.286-307. Epub Jan 24, 2022. ISSN 2448-6698. https://doi.org/10.22319/rmcp.v12s3.5846.
In this document, the aim was to gather the experiences obtained with the GGAVATT model since its creation. The results, experiences, and impacts of the development and implementation of this model, reported in secondary sources, were evaluated. Five stages were identified: laying the foundations (1970 - 1982), model development (1983 - 1989), model validation (1990 - 1996), national expansion (1997 - 2007), and adaptation and survival (2008 - to date). Here present the results obtained in each of these stages and the participation in different projects associated with official programs in the different Mexican States. In all the projects where the GGAVATT methodology has been appropriately applied, the technical, economic, social, and ecological results have been positive. At this point, it is know the success factors that provide good results. Therefore, it has a strategy that could be very useful in improving the current situation of small and medium-scale livestock producers in Mexico.
