Abstract

VERA VAZQUEZ, Rodrigo. Eagle Ford Shale Play: Oil-Mining Industrial Geography in Southern Texas, 2008-2015. Trayectorias. Rev. de cienc. soc. de la Univ. Autónoma de Nuevo León [online]. 2017, vol.19, n.45, pp.3-36. ISSN 2007-1205.

This article describes the geographical mobilization of oil and gas industry involved in the Texas counties that make up the American play known as Eagle Ford Shale. Using the number of drilling permits issued by the Railroad Commission of Texas in the period 2008-2015 and applying the technique of shift-share simplified quotient, data variation was calculated over time and space. Results indicate that counties members of the play located in the north stopped being strategic. As a consequence, this activity is moving towards the international border with Mexico.

Keywords : Oil; Gas; Shale; Fracking; Texas.
