Abstract

GUERRA LOPEZ, Rodrigo. Person, Sex and Gender. The Meanings of the Category "Gender" and the "Sex/Gender" System, according to Karol Wojtyła. Rev. filos.open insight [online]. 2016, vol.7, n.12, pp.139-164. ISSN 2395-8936.

The notion of "gender" has been used through history with many meanings. Without recognizing it analogous condition, that notion has been useful to speak about a fact, the studies that analyze this fact and the public policies that try to make visible the problems that rise within society by the social construction that interprets sex and sexuality. This paper focuses on the evidence of the existence of sexual differentiation and in the recognition of the multiple forms of its socio-cultural and historical realization. Using some elements of Karol Wojtyła's and classic philosophy, this paper will try to offer an interpretation on the relations between gender, sexualitiy and the human self.

Keywords : Gender; Identity; Person; Self; Sex.
