Abstract
BEDOYA-CARDOSO, Marlio and ANGELES-MONTIEL, Vicente. Is it Possible Improve the Irrigation Uniformity Using Different Spacing between Emitters?. Tecnol. cienc. agua [online]. 2014, vol.5, n.6, pp.167-175. ISSN 2007-2422.
Friction and localized losses, the spacing between emitters, the slope of the ground, the emitter flow rate and flow regimen, are important parameters to determine the irrigation uniformity (application), by these considerations, the present study was performed to predict and improve the emission uniformity, using different spacing between drippers on laterals and proposing alternative strategies for the measurement of lateral emitters that tend to reduce the number of readings. The tests were conducted on two laterals of 50 meters (m) length and 13.5 millimeters inside diameter. On the first lateral, a constant spacing of 0.40 m (traditional) was used, and on the second lateral a different spacing was used, 0.40 m in the first 10 m section and 0.35 m spacing in the other 40 m (proposed). All the emitters of the two laterals are gauged 3 times to determine their average. The results indicate that the proposal of different spacing in irrigation laterals improve between 2.0 to 2.37% application uniformity compared with constant spacing, however with α = 0.05 these improvements aren't statistically significant. Finally the measure proposal emitters at 25-50-75 and 20-40-80% of the lateral length predict well the application uniformity, with a significance level of 95% in the hypothesis test of variance.
