Abstract

ISHCHENKO, Vitalii; LLORI, Jonathan  and  RAMOS, Cristina. Determination of environmental impact of shampoo components on algae Chlorella using a bioindication method. Tecnol. cienc. agua [online]. 2017, vol.8, n.6, pp.37-46.  Epub Aug 06, 2021. ISSN 2007-2422.  https://doi.org/10.24850/j-tyca-2017-06-03.

This study analyzed the composition of various shampoos that are on the market. These were found to contain many components which may be harmful to the environment and to humans. The environmental impact of the different types of shampoos on chlorella algae was determined using a bioindication method. The results show that even small amounts (1-2%) of shampoos in the water lead to a total loss in zooplankton and bacteria, and the loss of most of the phytoplankton, indicating a risk to the environment.

Keywords : Shampoo; environmental impact; Chlorella; hazardous components; bioindication.
