Abstract
MARTINEZ-LOBATOS, Lilia. Curriculum in Mexican public universities, 20 years after its incorporation to special funding programs. Rev. iberoam. educ. super [online]. 2016, vol.7, n.19, pp.42-63. ISSN 2007-2872.
In the nineties, changes to Mexican public universities’ curriculum were promoted by special financial resources, such as the Fondo para la Modernización de la Educación Superior (Fund for Higher Education Modernization), the Programa Integral de Fortalecimiento Institucional (Institutional Strengthening Integrated Program), and, most recently, the Programa de Fortalecimiento de la Calidad en Instituciones Educativas (Program for Quality Strengthening of Education Institutions). The purpose of this article is to analyze the curriculum from two axis, on one hand the financial resources coming from such funds, and on the other, outcomes of research conducted among students from the Universidad Autónoma de Baja California (Autonomous University of Baja California) on variables surrounding the processes developed in their curriculum. The finding is that reiterated attention is still given to curricular changes in funding programs. The students did mention certain accomplishments in their professional training as a consequence of such changes.
