Abstract

AVILA, Omar; CARRILLO, Julián  and  ALCOCER, Sergio M.. Rehabilitación de muros de concreto usando CRFA: Ensayos en mesa vibradora. Concr. cem. investig. desarro [online]. 2011, vol.2, n.2, pp.2-17. ISSN 2007-3011.

Aimed at studying new rehabilitation techniques for low-rise concrete walls, an experimental study for evaluating the seismic performance of jacketing using steel fiber reinforced concrete (SFRC) was carried out. Thus, the dynamic response of two normalweight and lightweight concrete walls firstly reinforced with welded wire mesh and then rehabilitated using an additional layer of SFRC was studied. Before carrying out the rehabilitation, specimens had been tested under shaking-table excitations to major damage conditions. The walls were re-tested to failure applying the same earthquake records used for the original models. Efficiency of the rehabilitation technique was evaluated by studying the most relevant parameters of the seismic response, such as shear strength, story drift, failure mode, energy dissipation and residual cracking index. In general terms, the observed and measured performance of rehabilitated walls was satisfactory because strength and displacement capacities measured from the original walls were adequately restored.

Keywords : concrete walls; lightweight concrete; seismic rehabilitation; steel fiber reinforced concrete; shaking-table tests; concrete toughness.
