Abstract
MENDOZA, Carlos Javier; AIRE, Carlos and DAVILA, Paula. Influencia de las fibras de polipropileno en las propiedades del concreto en estados plástico y endurecido. Concr. cem. investig. desarro [online]. 2011, vol.2, n.2, pp.35-47. ISSN 2007-3011.
The effect in properties of fresh and hardened concrete of incorporating short propylene fibers is discussed in this paper. The factors that are studied are the maximum coarse aggregate size, fines in sand and fiber content. Eight trial batches were made and were tested in fresh state and after 7 and 28 days of hardening. Slump, air content, unit mass and plastic shrinkage cracking were measured in the fresh state; compression strength, modulus of elasticity, Poisson ratio, tensile strength, toughness, impact strength and drying shrinkage were measured in the hardened state. The presence of fibers in fresh concrete modifies the mix consistency and decreases plastic shrinkage cracking; in hardened concrete, it increases toughness and impact strength and decreases drying shrinkage and cracking; the other properties stay without relevant changes.
