The text deals with the relationship between scientific knowledge and religion from anthropology's point of view. As of the Clifford Geerts's definition of religion, the differences with the science are pointed. The interaction between the anthropologist and the religious agents is emphasized, with special highlights on the relationship between missioners and ethnologists. Last, I give some considerations relative to how anthropologists place the beliefs of their subjects in regard to their own.
