MELCHOR BARRERA, Zoraya  and  MELCHOR BARRERA, Diana. Actions in the area of public health in Jalisco, 1917-1943: statistics, vaccination and the creation of organisms. Intersticios sociales [online]. 2018, n.16, pp.159-186. ISSN 2007-4964.

The objective of this article is to analyze actions in the area of public health taken in Jalisco between 1917 and 1943, through a qualitative and quantitative analysis of information derived from the documentary review of state files, government reports, national censuses and statistical sources. It proposes that the creation of public health organisms, the implementation of vaccination campaigns, and the collection of statistical data were some of the actions that became consolidated and institutionalized during the first half of the 20th century as means of identifying, preventing and combatting diseases.

Keywords : public health actions; disease; public health organisms; vaccination; statistics.
