Abstract

PIEDRA ASCENCIO, Roberto Iván. Social assistance and social policy in Jalisco: a study through language and programs. Intersticios sociales [online]. 2020, n.20, pp.261-286.  Epub Nov 20, 2020. ISSN 2007-4964.

The article analyzes the transition of the actions that have served to assist the necessities of the part of the population that is under poverty or vulnerability conditions in the state of Jalisco, México. The analysis is made through the study of the speech, the types of problems they face and the social groups they belong to, as well as the actors that have implemented them. In this sense, we can observe three main stages taking place in Jalisco: the first, characterized by the help provided by the Church and philanthropic associations; the second, by government institutions through social assistance; and third, by the use of technical tools such as the evaluation of social development programs.

Keywords : social policy; poverty; social development; welfare; Jalisco.
