Abstract

BOLIVAR MEZA, Rosendo. Selection of candidates for the Federal Legislative Branch in Mexico: the case of the National Regeneration Movement Party, on the 2018 electoral process. Intersticios sociales [online]. 2020, n.20, pp.287-312.  Epub Nov 20, 2020. ISSN 2007-4964.

The selection of candidates is a fundamental task of political parties, since it reflects whether or not there are mechanisms of internal democracy, and whether it is formal or real. Each party has its own particular mechanisms, its own internal laws, uses and customs, to select their candidates. The way in which this is done has been little studied. Therefore the aim of this article is to analyze the process of selection of candidates in the party Movement of National Regeneration (Morena) who participated in the elections to the Legislative Power federal in Mexico, in 2018, which won a significant victory.

Keywords : electoral process; Legislative Power; Mexico; Movement of National Regeneration (Morena); selection of candidates; 2018.
