Abstract

RAMIREZ HERNANDEZ, Miguel Ángel  and  CONTRERAS ALCANTARA, Javier. A framework for the conceptual analysis of party ideologies. The case of the Partido Revolucionario Institucional (1929-2018). Intersticios sociales [online]. 2023, n.26, pp.65-92.  Epub Oct 23, 2023. ISSN 2007-4964.

This article aims to develop an analytical framework for the study of party ideologies. It is postulated that party ideologies can be expressed as an institutionalized conceptual framework that structures the discursive behavior of organizational actors over time. This framework establishes that the analysis of the form and content of party ideologies can be carried out through the description of three central conceptual categories: 1) party, 2) nation and 3) opposition. To theoretically support this framework, the contributions of organizational studies on political parties, the new institutionalism and the conceptual approach of party ideologies are combined. To empirically support this framework, the development of the conceptual categories proposed in the case of the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) during the period 1929-2018 will be observed.

Keywords : ideology; concepts; institutions; political party; Institutional Revolutionary Party.
