Abstract

TENORIO CORRO, Yunuen  and  ARREDONDO, Armando. Health services in the migrant population of the United States utilization. Horiz. sanitario [online]. 2018, vol.17, n.2, pp.89-94. ISSN 2007-7459.  https://doi.org/10.19136/hs.a17n2.1919.

Objective:

To analyze the aspects that affect the use of Health Services of Mexican migrants in the United States.

Materials and methods:

A bibliographic search was carried out in two Medline and Scientific Electronic Library Online databases. The search was carried out using the words "HEALTH CARE UTILIZATION", "HEALTH POLICY", "MEXICAN IMMIGRANTS", "UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANTS", "UTILIZATION", "HEALTH CARE", "UNDOCUMENTED" and "POLICY", from January 1st. 2007 to January 1, 2017.

Results:

We identified 239 articles and proceeded to the complete analysis of 15 articles (6%). Of which 9 articles (3%) analyzed the relationship between the migratory status and the use of services, 3 articles (1%) addressed the issue with a binational vision and 2 articles (1%) was directed to the use of services in female migrants. I do not know how to find any application that addresses economic barriers.

Conclusions:

The access of the Mexican migrants is different depending on their immigration status. A large part of the factors that determine the access of the migrant population are of a socioeconomic nature.
