Abstract

CAMACHO VELAZQUEZ, Dolores; RUIZ DE ONA PLAZA, Celia  and  TORRES FREYERMUTH, Amanda Úrsula. Narrative as a Methodological Approach for the Multidisciplinary Study of the Southern Border (Chiapas-Guatemala). Experiences and Reflections. Entrediversidades rev. cienc. soc. humanid. [online]. 2021, vol.8, n.1, pp.141-163.  Epub Mar 04, 2024. ISSN 2007-7610.  https://doi.org/10.31644/ed.v8.n1.2021.a06.

The aim of this text is to provide elements to support the narrative approach as a methodology to carry out multidisciplinary and collective research within the Social Sciences in cross-border spaces. To this end, we reflect on the experience of collective research in the research project “The Chiapas-Guatemala border: territory, problems and social dynamics”, whose focus of study was the experience of daily life in the various territories that make up the Chiapas-Guatemala border. We explain the development of the research and the difficulties we face in the process and, primarily, we focus on discussing two fundamental axis: the border as an object of research, and narratives as a methodological proposal. We share a collective learning experience in order to inspire and foster debate on multidisciplinary research in border contexts.

Keywords : methodology; narrative approach; border space; multidisciplinary research; region.
